Rational

Rational

I have created two posters that explore rhetorical approaches to conceptually interpret and communicate the ongoing wage gap between men and women in New Zealand. The posters are designed to create awareness of the topic, the target audience is 20-30 year olds in New Zealand.

Coin Poster
I used pathos, as it incorporates humor in the form of sarcasm and irony of the head line. Logos is used in the body text which shows a fact and where to get further information. Symbolism of gender is used in the colors and penis shape. The shape is made out of fourteen 86 cent coins and the background of 1$ to further support statistics and concepts.

Note Poster

I used pathos again in the headline and clown drawing of Kate Shepard. This does not only make a fool of her but more so of the fact that we are still fighting for equality in a country that is thought to be advanced and proud of it.  I used logos again for further explanation in the body text. Symbolism in the $10 note and graffiti of rebellion and protests.

Final Posters

Coin Poster                                                                                       Note Poster

Week 6.1

Printed both posters as mockups on A2. Both had minor trouble with the font and logos size and layout, fixed issues. Got rid of white dick drawing as it was to much and changed type layout on coin posters.
After todays class i will get it printed, probably on matt, heavy duty paper as i don't want there to be glare if the light hits it..

Week 5.2

Today in class i:

-changed the colour background of the kate shepard poster to blue as it makes type pop. And refined exactly what the body text will be on it.

-Made a plan of some major changes that i want to do for the dots poster. Make my own coin, look at example posters to see what layouts work best.

week 5.1 intern presentation

my posters:
Feedback:

Kate Shepard - easy to understand but fact would help, like aesthetic, symbolises rebellion, defacing  money is illegal, style communicates frustration, emotions. play around with slogan and body text, does is have to be graffiti or can it be elegant to contrast... clarify 8.6

Top 100 - some liked it some didnt, idea not that clear, pink dots are supposed to form dick but not clear, Make illustration clearer, use money overlay to make it clear its about money.

After feedback:

kate sheppard idea good, but play around with scale and mediums and layer, overlays, textures,

mosaic idea good but simplify? try other ways out..

lots of idea making to go

week 3.1 intern presentation

Here are my poster ideas
Feedback:

Kate Shepard poster idea strong but maybe crop in? use slogan, experiment with textures of paint+ bank note...

It pays to have a dick poster good slogan maybe combine with asset liability idea..Jennifer Lawrence is to rich the represent the idea, shock factor is good

Shoe and gun poster, gun can symbolise violence, good play on words.

skeleton poster, idea not clear, slogan not very strong, skeleton symbolises death
